Nesquehoning VFW Auxiliary meets

The regular monthly meeting of the VFW Auxiliary to Nesquehoning Memorial Post 8008 was held on Jan. 11 at the Post home with President Christa Kattner presiding.

There were no applications for membership. The auxiliary is presently one member away from attaining 100 percent. General Orders 6 were read and filed for action.

Under youth activities, the annual Christmas party, held in December, went well. A tentative date of April 13 was set for the Easter Egg Hunt.

There was one Voice of Democracy entry and 13 Patriot’s Pen entries received.

Under community service, 38 hours were reported by those present, along with 152 cards being sent for veterans and family support.

The weekend of May 3-5 has been requested for Buddy Poppy days at Redner’s.

The auxiliary will celebrate its 70-year anniversary of their Charter on Feb. 16 with an open house in the social hall at the Post home.

All members, former members and the public are invited to attend. Come join us for a walk down memory lane.

It was suggested the auxiliary make arrangements for a visit to the Wilkes-Barre VA Center.

The trustees met on Jan. 12 and conducted their quarterly audit.

A Miller-Keystone Memorial Bloodmobile will be at the Post on Feb. 13.

The next regular meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Post home.
