Lansford man facing sexual assault counts

A Lansford man is facing sexual assault charges following an investigation by borough police into allegations made by a 15-year-old girl.

James Salvatore Hargett, 50, has been charged with aggravated indecent assault, a felony, and two counts each of corruption of minors, felonies, and indecent assault, misdemeanors.

According to police on Dec. 23, 2018, the victim reported while she was sleeping at a relatives residence along West Kline Avenue, Hargett entered the bedroom and sexually assaulted her. This occurred in April 2018.

A second incident occurred, according to the victim, in October 2018, when she was in the same bedroom playing a video game when Hargett entered the room. He came up behind her while she was seated in a chair and inappropriately touched her. In both incidents the victim told police she was in fear.

Hargett was arraigned last night before on-call District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton. He was unable to post bail and was committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning.
