Franklin Township Supervisors

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action on Tuesday:

• Hired two part-time police officers at the rate of $19 an hour, effective June 19. The board declined to name them until they agree to accept the positions.

• Named Phase II Red Hill Road Drainage Improvement Project for the Community Development Block Grant funding year 2018, a total of $69,054.

• Applied to the Carbon County Conservation District’s dirt and gravel/low volume road grant for improvements on Evergreen Road.

• Pending approval of the Carbon County Conservation District’s dirt and gravel/low volume road grant, requested per regulations an allowance of 50 percent ($24,760) in advance to begin the Phase II Evergreen Road project.

• Renewed of a junkyard permit application for Lehighton Scrap Recycling.

• Agreed to release the remaining balance of funds in the Klecha escrow account to the Developer’s Mieczyslaw and Ewa Klecha based on the recommendation of township engineer Greg Haas’ final inspection of the property.

• Approved the Cara Serfass and Russell and Sandra Miller’s subdivision and lot consolidation plans, pending the DEP approval letter and all fees are paid in full, such as engineering fees and recreation fees.

• Accepted the request for a 90-day time extension for the review/approval of the Lisa Gabory subdivision plans.

• Hired John Mathews to provide monthly maintenance services to the township’s website from July 1 to Dec. 31. Appointment will be on a yearly basis.

• Approved a request from the Franklin Township Lions Club to have the Franklin Fire Police assist with parking and traffic control on June 24 for the Cramer Bros. Concert to be held at the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company.

• Approved the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company to assist/standby at Sunny Rest Resort for their annual fireworks display on July 7.

• Approved the secretaries attendance to the Council of Government’s Right-to-Know Officer’s Workshop from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. June 25.

• Announced there will be a change in the garbage collection, as the July 4 pick up will be picked up on July 3.
