Carbon County court

A Tamaqua man was sentenced to a state prison term this week in Carbon County court after pleading guilty to a drug dealing charge.

He was one of eight defendants in pending drug cases to enter a plea before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Nikolas W. Taylor, 31, of Lansford pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - methamphetamine. He was arrested on Sept. 13, 2016, by Lansford police in the area of 137 W. Ridge St. Police responded to the area for a report of a person with a firearm. Taylor was found with the illegal drugs.

Matika sentenced him to serve 15 to 30 months in a state correctional institution and also ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and when released on parole render 50 hours of community service. He was given credit for 272 days already served on the charge.

The term runs concurrent with a state prison term Taylor is now serving which was imposed in Schuylkill County. Taylor is an inmate at SCI Laurel Highlands, Somerset County.

Other pleas

Karim Williams

, 35, of Philadelphia, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - cocaine.

He was arrested on Sept. 25, 2016, along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge following a traffic stop.

Matika sentenced him to serve 35 to 70 months in a state correctional institution with credit for 632 days already served. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and when paroled render 100 hours of community service.

Edward T. Thierer III

, 50, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy - possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was arrested on Sept. 2, 2017, by Nesquehoning police in the area of 130 W. Catawissa St.

Thierer, who is an inmate in the county prison, was sentenced to serve six to one day less 24 months in prison with credit for 180 days already served. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and zero tolerance imposed for drug or alcohol use.

Michelle L. Hartman

, 47, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested on July 11, 2016, by Nesquehoning police along Industrial Road. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was dropped in a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office.

Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered she get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Derek Michael Hunsicker

, 29, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was arrested on June 14, 2017, by Lansford police at Patterson and Coal streets.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and render 50 hours of community service.

Jerrell Marcus Miller-Love,

22, of Montoursville, Lycoming County, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on Jan. 27 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge.

He was placed on probation for 6 months and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Angelea Nikkole Schlier,

27, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested on Feb. 3 by Lansford police in the area of 328 E. Bertsch St.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.

Genevieve Lee Snyder,

24, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was arrested on May 22, 2017, by Summit Hill police in the area of 221 W. White Bear Drive.

Matika placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 25 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
