Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during its weekly meeting on Thursday:

• Reappointed Diane B. Luedtke of Jim Thorpe, David F. McAndrew Jr. of Summit Hill and Kathleen Schwick of Lehighton to the Children and Youth Advisory Board. Their terms run to May 1, 2022.

• Appointed Dennis DeMara of Lehighton to fill the unexpired position on the Carbon County Planning Commission. The term ends Dec. 31, 2021.

• Approved the 2020 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grant application in the amount of $5,600 to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. Carbon’s share is $1,400.

• Approved the proposal with Jim Thorpe Auto Rentals for the lease of two 15-passenger vans for transporting Liquid Fuels Summer Program employees. The agreement will run May 20 to Aug. 9 and cost $6,750.

• Approved a revised communications site lease agreement with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission to allow the 911 center to install communications equipment onto the turnpike’s new tower at Big Boulder and install a new shelter at the site. This replaces the contract approved on March 28.

• Adopted a resolution authorizing the disposition of used vehicles valued at more than $2,000.

• Changes of status: Brynn M. Masten of Jim Thorpe, from part-time dispatcher/trainee to part-time dispatcher, communications center, effective May 6; Michael D. Cutler of Coaldale, from part-time senior center operator I to limited term aging case aide II, Area Agency on Aging, effective May 20; and Kimberly D. Houser of Lehighton, from district justice secretary I to district justice secretary II, effective May 6.
