On March 11 about 8:50 a.m. Nesquehoning Police Chief Sean Smith investigated a rear-end crash along Mermon Avenue in a posted school zone.

Smith said Patricia Bednar, 50 E. Diaz Ave., Nesquehoning, was traveling south and struck the rear of a Dodge pickup truck driven by Joe Trimmel Jr., of 144 W. Columbus Ave., Nesquehoning, with the front of her vehicle. No injuries were reported.Bednar's vehicle, not identified by police, had to be towed. She was cited by Smith for careless driving.
