A truck was destroyed by fire Saturday morning along the Turnpike in Carbon County. The fire was reported around 11 a.m. in the northbound lanes at the 82.5 mile marker.

When Franklin Township firefighters arrived on scene they found the Freightliner truck tractor fully involved in flames.

Quick thinking by the operator saved the trailer when he disconnected it from the burning unit.

The northbound lanes were reduced to one lane. State police at Pocono are investigating the incident.
