The Nesquehoning Veterans Banner program is now open for 2024.

If you would like to purchase a banner, applications are available at the VFW Post Home at 300 E. Center St.

Also if you purchased a banner to be displayed in 2021, 22 and 23 renewal applications were mailed to the sponsor of the banner and the retired banner may be picked up at the post home.

The deadline to purchase a new banner or renewal is today.

St. John the Baptist and St. Nicholas

Since there has been a change in clergy, the holiday schedule has been also been changed for St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Nesquehoning; and St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Lansford.

All are welcome to come and worship. Services will be celebrated by Protopresbyter Fr. Joseph Fester.

On Jan. 19: Divine Liturgy for Theophany with Blessing of the water at St. John Orthodox Church.

Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for Jan. 15-19.

Monday: Stuffed Chicken Breast, Brown Rice, Wax Beans, Cookie or Turkey Cheese Sandwich

Tuesday: Hot Dog, Sauerkraut, Cauliflower, Greek yogurt or Chicken Cheese Sandwich

Wednesday: Eggplant Rollatini, Scalloped Potatoes, Broccoli, Pears or Pesto Chicken Salad

Thursday: Beef Stew, Carrots, Brussels sprouts, Applesauce or Turkey Cheese Sandwich

Friday: Lentil Soup, Breaded Fish Sandwich, Salad, Orange or Ham Salad Sandwich

The senior center also announced the following events.

Scattergories on Jan. 15 at 11 a.m.; Birthday Bingo on Jan. 16 at 10:45 a.m.; Drumming Exercise on Jan. 17 at 11 a.m.; Sunshine Meeting on Jan. 18 at 10 a.m. followed by Po-Ke-No at 11 a.m.; Cornhole on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m.

Horse racing on Jan. 22 at 11 a.m.; Bingo on Jan. 23 at 10:45 a.m.; Game Day on Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.; Po-Ke-No on Jan. 25 at 11 a.m.; Movie and Popcorn on Jan. 26 at 10 a.m.

Cards, Pool, Games, available daily from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New members are welcome.
