Eldred Center

The Eldred Community Center has announced that The Quilters are back from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, with all kinds of sewing, including doing repairs to donated clothing for the Thrift Shop

In addition, the Center would like to start German classes. Call the Center at 610-895-4444 to share input.

Contractors’ invite

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is inviting contractors to a free breakfast at 7 a.m., Jan. 20, at Perkins Family in Stroudsburg to hear what the organization is doing in the community and how the contractors can be part of it. RSVP by Jan. 17.

Eagle watch trip

Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced eagle watch field trips on Jan. 20 and Feb. 3 to the upper Delaware River in search of the Bald Eagle.

Participants are to meet at the EE Center at 8:30 a.m. and return 5:30 p.m. Participants should pack a lunch and binoculars and dress for the weather. Stops will be made for coffee and snacks. Preregistration and payment is required one week in advance. Seating is limited.

Winter survival

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center will hold a winter survival skills program for children ages 8 to 14 on Jan. 21.

It includes a morning of outdoor exploration and putting winter survival skills to the test. Participants will learn about foraging local wild edibles in winter, learn basic fire building skills and construct shelters from materials found in nature. There is a per person cost payable by cash or check.

Stromboli order

The YOUTH Missions team of Effort UMC is once again hosting a fundraiser for its upcoming mission trip to Erie. Orders are being accepted for handmade strombolis through Jan. 29. Pick up will be Feb. 12. Three types are available: pepperoni & cheese, broccoli & cheese and cheesesteak. Orders and payments are due by Jan. 29.

Maple sugaring

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center has announced its maple sugaring programs for organized groups, including schools, Scouts and other groups. The dates are from Feb. 27 through March 10. There is a cost, so call 570-629-3061 for more information and to schedule an outdoor session.

Pre-registration is required for groups so reserving is mandatory for a spot by Feb. 22.
