I am appalled and disgusted how Republicans are trying to use John Fetterman’s handicap against him. For example, a recent letter in your newspaper said Fetterman can’t comprehend what’s going on if he has to use closed captioning. I take that as a statement putting down a handicapped person, saying if you have a physical handicap, you have a comprehension problem.

My son-in-law suffered a stroke 4 years ago. His speech was affected, just like Fetterman’s. The first few months my son-in-law’s speech was slow. Just like Fetterman, my son-in-law’s cognition was not affected. Fetterman released a letter from his physician months ago saying his comprehension is not affected. My son-in-law also did better with the written word. Today my son-in-law shows no signs of speech problems unless he is tired and then only family members see those subtle problems. Fetterman will improve also. He just needs an assistive device at this time. My son-in-law was able to go back to his job making six figures salary with a large company within weeks. Fetterman can do the job as our senator.

Do I want to send someone who needs an assistive device to Washington? Yes. I will send Fetterman to Washington instead of a person who is a citizen of New Jersey and Turkey and only moved to our state to represent us in the Senate. I will send Fetterman to Washington instead of a man who will have big government make medical decisions for women. I will send Fetterman to Washington instead of a doctor who tortured dogs in a lab, who got rich promoting worthless or even harmful quack products on TV. I will send Fetterman to Washington to make sure that Republicans do not take away my social security or Medicare.
