State police report on turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported on the following crashes:

• William R. Marsh, 51, of Scranton, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crashes at 3:25 p.m. Sept. 6 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Police said the crash happened at mile post 96.6 in Kidder Township when March was driving a 2005 BMW northbound. Police said the car hit a large rock that was in the left lane, causing Marsh to lose control of the car, at which time it struck an embankment. It was towed from the scene.

• Carolyn M. Gillish, 52, of Walnutport, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle mishap at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 6 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Police said she was driving a 2021 Volvo northbound in the area of mile post 106.8 in Bear Creek Township when it struck a patch of water in the road, causing her to lose control of the vehicle.

Police said it hit the guide rail, causing heavy damages to the entire passenger side and a rear passenger side flat tire. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

• A 17-year-old Danielsville teen was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed following a minor crash at 4:50 p.m. Sept. 2 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Franklin Township.

Police said he was driving a 2013 Toyota Prius northbound in heavy holiday weekend traffic when he didn’t realize traffic was slowing down. Police said the Prius “rear-ended” a 2020 Ford 150 driven by Richard W. Schwab, 80, of State College.

No one was hurt in the incident.
