Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items on Thursday.

• Authorized the advertisement of the Carbon County Annual Salary Board meeting, which will be held at the commissioners’ meeting room in the administration building, as well as livestreamed on Facebook. The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. on Jan. 3 and will be immediately followed by the weekly meeting of the county commissioners.

• Approved the 2022 meeting schedule as follows: Commissioners, 10:30 a.m. every Thursday beginning on Jan. 13, with the exception of Nov. 24, which is a holiday; Carbon County Salary Board, first Thursday of every month during the commissioners’ meeting; Carbon County Election Board, second Thursday of every month following the commissioners’ meeting; Carbon County Retirement Board meeting, third Thursday of every month following the commissioners’ meeting; Carbon County Prison Board, third Wednesday of each month, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the commissioners’ meeting room.

• Ratified an action to move forward with the replacement of an HVAC unit at the 911 communications center due to the severity of the situation because of the current one breaking down.

• Ratified a proposal with A&W Plumbing to replace the HVAC unit at the communications center at the quoted price of $60,000.

• Approved an agreement with Forensic Pathology Associates of Allentown to provide services for the coroner’s officer through Dec. 31, 2022.

• Approved an agreement with Quincy Technology Solutions Inc. of New Haven, Connecticut, for unlimited licensed software and maintenance for the coroner’s officer through Dec. 31, 2022. The cost is $6,523, which represents an increase of $1,315. The cost is covered through the Vital Statistics Fund.

• Approved two termination agreements between Eileen Diehl, Esquire, of Center Valley and the Carbon County Court of Common Pleas and domestic relation office for the legal services as hearing officer and as domestic relations hearing officer and custody/divorce master, effective December 2021.

• Approved the renewal of the agricultural operations agreement with Lil-Rus Farms at Mauch Chunk Lake Park. The term shall be from Jan. 6, 2022, through Jan. 7, 2025.

• Ratified a resolution honoring Aiden Sean McCarty of Boy Scout Troop 209, Palmerton, on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.

• Employment separation: Latasha D. Roach of Lehighton, part-time corrections officer/Teamsters, effective Nov. 3.

• Resignations: David J. Weaver of Nesquehoning, corrections officer, effective Nov. 5; and Matthew J. Mottola of Palmerton, full-time assistant public defender, effective Nov. 26.

• Date of hire correction: Brittany T. Stepp of Palmerton, part-time dispatcher trainee, 911 communications center, effective Nov. 15.

• Hires as recommended by department supervisors: Robert J. Sikorsky of Palmerton, part-time parking/meter attendant, effective Nov. 17; Gregory T. Gauronsky of Lehighton, accountant II, Children and Youth, effective Nov. 29; and Nicole Mykoliw of Drums, caseworker, PCWDA, effective Nov. 29.

• Prison board appointments: James E. Youngkin of Nesquehoning, warden, effective Nov. 29 (Commissioner Chris Lukasevich abstained); Douglas P. Budziak of Nesquehoning, part-time corrections officer/Teamsters, effective Nov. 29; and Nicholas R. Shorten of Jim Thorpe and Rebecca B. Sinclair of Albrightsville, corrections officers, both effective Nov. 29.

• Change of status: Richard S. Kott of Tresckow, from part-time dispatcher to 911 operator, effective Nov. 22.
