Schuylkill DA, drug task force seize guns, fentanyl

A Pottsville man has been arrested on drug and firearm charges following a weeks-long investigation by the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office and Drug Task Force, and the Reading State Police Vice/Narcotics Unit.

Justin M. Matthews, 46, was charged after authorities executed a search warrant at his Line Street home.

A search of his home on Wednesday revealed a quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, Buprenorphine Naloxone films, psilocybin mushrooms and drug paraphernalia. Two semi-automatic rifles were found loaded inside the residence.

Matthews is charged with two counts of possession with the intent to deliver methamphetamine and fentanyl; five counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, fentanyl, marijuana, Buprenorphine naloxone and psilocybin mushrooms; and possession of drug paraphernalia; persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms.

Matthews was arraigned before the District Judge James K. Reiley, Pottsville, and jailed under $100,000 bail.
