Man facing charges after shooting gun in Lehighton bar
A 36-year-old Lehighton man is facing charges after he discharged a gun at a Lehighton bar early Saturday morning.
Lehighton police were called to Griff’s Ale Haus & Grill, 328 S. Second St., for a report of an active disturbance with a discharge of a gun.
As police arrived, one suspect, Michael Donohue Jr. drove off in a silver Ford but was located in the 300 block of S. Second S. A second suspect came out of the bar. Both were taken into custody.
Police reviewed security footage and interviewed patrons. Police recovered a 9 mm handgun from Donohue’s vehicle and a spent casing at the scene.
Witnesses said Donohue was involved in a fight with several patrons on the patio. They said as employees of business tried to remove him, he pulled a gun and shot it.
Police said no one was injured by gunshots, but two people were injured in the fight and were treated by members of Lehighton Ambulance.
The second suspect, a 36-year-old male from Lehighton, was released, pending possible misdemeanor and summary charges. He was not named by police.
Donohue was processed for gunshot residue on his hands and admitted to discharging the gun. He is charged with terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, simple assault, disorderly conduct and summary offenses.
He is in Carbon County Correctional Facility, awaiting formal arraignment. Bail was set at $100,000.
Also assisting at the scene were Jim Thorpe Borough Police, Franklin Township Police, Pennsylvania State Police and Lehighton Ambulance.
