DLNHC launches traveling museum exhibition

Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor announces the launch of its new traveling exhibition, “Dynamo! Innovators, Inventors and Architects of Revolutionary Change,” a dynamic and engaging exploration of the people and ideas that helped shape one of the nation’s most inventive regions.

Now in Kingston, the exhibition highlights the corridor as a center of innovation, where natural resources, human ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit converged to power industries that helped build America.

The exhibition will be on view through June 12 at the Friedman Jewish Community Center, Jewish Community Alliance of NEP, 613 S J Strauss Lane, Kingston, before traveling to the Shickshinny Historical Society, 14 Main St., Shickshinny, where it will be on display from June 12-19.

“Dynamo! tells the powerful stories of individuals whose creativity and determination transformed raw materials into thriving industries — and bold ideas into lasting change,” said Lianne Greco, DLNHC director of museum and archives. “This exhibition highlights people whose stories may not be widely known, but whose impact runs deeper than many might expect.”

Through five themed kiosks — Industry, Consumption, Innovation, Health and the Arts — visitors will discover how the corridor became a hub for breakthroughs that extended beyond iron, steel and cement production to influence medicine, science and culture.

The exhibition emphasizes the lasting impact of these “dynamos”— inventors, entrepreneurs and visionaries — whose work not only fueled economic growth but also shaped how people live, learn and create today.

Designed as a traveling experience, “Dynamo!” will tour communities along the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, making its stories of innovation accessible to a broad audience and fostering local connections to the region’s rich industrial and cultural heritage.

“This exhibit represents a new model for DLNHC, as we move towards a greater outreach effort throughout our five-county corridor,” said Tony Pierucci, executive director of DLNHC. “We’re using the remarkable archives and resources at our National Canal Museum as the launchpad to reach more people than ever.”

The program is funded in part by the Gaming Tax Grant Program through the County of Northampton Department of Community and Economic Development.

The exhibition is supported by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission, a state agency funded by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, with additional support from the National Park Service and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
