Coroner: Carbon man’s body found on D & L Trail in E. Penn

The Carbon County Coroner has confirmed that a man’s body was found Sunday afternoon at the D & L Trail in East Penn Township.

County Coroner Mark K. Smith said at around 3:40 p.m. emergency crews were dispatched to the scene after a report of a body being discovered.

A Carbon County man, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene. Cause of death is asphyxiation and the manner of death is being ruled a suicide.

“To assist family of the deceased we will not be releasing the name of the decedent at this point to allow time for out of area family members to be notified,” Smith said.

The investigation remains open and is being conducted by the Carbon County Coroners Office and the Pa. State Police, Lehighton Barracks.

The Carbon County Coroner’s office was on scene Sunday afternoon where a body was found at the Lehigh River in East Penn Township. The initial call was for the area of mile marker 99 on the D & L trail. The Carbon County Coroner has confirmed that the body of a Carbon County man, age 50, was found deceased.
