Catalytic converters stolen

Area police reported two incidents where catalytic converters were stolen.

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle that was parked at Route 61 and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail in Port Clinton.

The victim is a 66-year-old man from Manlius, New York, who reported at 5 p.m. Sept. 18 that someone sawed off the converter on his 2016 Subaru Outlook.

A 67-year-old Bushkill man reported someone took the catalytic converter from his Jeep sometime between 11 a.m. Sept. 18 and 10 a.m. Sept. 30 along Milford Road in Middle Smithfield Township.

State police at Stroudsburg said the man’s 2001 Jeep Cherokee was parked outside the Auto Clinic Diagnostic & Repair business when the converter, valued at $633.88, was stolen.
