A look back: October 13, 1959

Something new was added to the annals of Carbon County Court history today when a piece of flesh, allegedly bitten from the hand of a Lansford man, was exhibited to a jury of five men and women.

This came during the first trial on the October term criminal court list and the first witness to tell his story of “The Big Bite” was Edward J. Zarsky, 156 W. Patterson St., Lansford, in the aggravated assault case.

Present in court and ready to defend herself when the session reconvened this afternoon was Margaret “Scotty” McKenzie, Lansford, who is charged with having sunk her teeth into the palm of Zarsky’s left hand in a tavern owned by Joseph “Chow” Pohlod, 154 W. Ridge St.
