HARRISBURG (AP) - A union says faculty members at Pennsylvania's 14 state universities have voted to call for a strike.

The Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties said Monday over 90 percent of union faculty members favored authorizing a strike.

Coaches will vote on strike authorization on Wednesday and Thursday.

Union President Kenneth Mash says a strike remains a last resort, and faculty leaders won't set a strike date until they go to the negotiation table one more time.

The next negotiation session is set for Friday.

The union says faculty members are objecting to a number of state proposals including increasing the use of temporary faculty, cutting some salaries and increasing medical costs.

Faculty members have been working without a contract since the last agreement expired in June 2015.
