A 22-year-old Walnutport woman faces charges of kidnapping a boy in Northumberland borough.

Katie Partridge, a senior at Bloomsburg University, grabbed a child off his bike last week and ran off with him in front of a large crowd.Partridge is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 1 p.m. April 8, before Northumberland County Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum. She has been charged with four counts each of aggravated assault and simple assault; as well as one count each of kidnapping of a minor; unlawful restraint of a minor, offender not parent; interference with custody of children; resisting arrest or other law enforcement; recklessly endangering another person; and disorderly conduct.Partridge remains jailed in Northumberland County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $15,000 bail.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Kevin Rushton, of the Northumberland Borough Police Department:At 7:05 p.m. March 18, Rushton was dispatched for a theft of a bicycle where a child was physically removed from the bicycle.Police arrived on scene and were directed by a large crowd to the suspect, a female wearing a gray coat and black pants. He then approached the female, who was later identified as Partridge by a photographic school identification.Officer Matthew Lauver asked Partridge for her name twice, and she would not look at him. She then turned and stared right at him.The stepfather of the child then approached Lauver, and informed him Partridge grabbed his son off his bike, ran down the street with him, and his wife had to chase after her.Lauver then asked Partridge what was going on, and she turned away, which prompted Lauver to grab her left wrist to chase after her.Partridge advanced toward Lauver in an aggressive manner swinging her arms. Lauver then grabbed her coat and she attempted to pull away, causing him to push her down and she fell on a set of steps.Partridge continued to resist, kicking, screaming, biting, and scratching at Lauver.Rushton then arrived on scene to assist, and ran up and helped hold Partridge down as she was kicking, screaming and biting at Lauver.Partridge would not respond to questioning, and would only scream at the top of her lungs. She was then transported in an ambulance to Sunbury Community Hospital for treatment.Rushton then spoke with a witness, Amanda Johnson, and mother of the child, Julie Johnson. Julie Johnson said that she noticed a female in the area acting strange. Her child was riding his bike on the sidewalk in front of their house as Johnson sat on the porch. Partridge then got in front of the child on his bike like she was playing with him.The child then passed Partridge, and she grabbed him off his bike and ran down the sidewalk. Julie Johnson chased after Partridge, and she put the child down and pushed him.Partridge then hid around the corner of a building and crossed the street before police arrived.During the arrest of Partridge, Lauver sustained an injury to his left shoulder, smashed his finger, sustained a scratch to his right hand from Partridge's finer nails, and abrasions to his knees and his lower back.Rushton sustained minor cuts to his right hand from Partridge's finger nails. The officers then arrived as Sunbury Community Hospital to follow up for treatment. There, it was learned that Partridge continued to resist at the hospital, spitting in a registered nurse's face multiple times, and causing another registered nurse to get stuck with a needle that had already been in Partridge's skin.
