Thanks to the compassion of a Palmerton service organization, several wish lists are about to come true.

For the second year in a row, the Palmerton Hungarian Club Auxiliary recently delivered its donations of Christmas gifts and meals off at Towamensing Elementary School. This year, the group was able to double the number of families it could help, said Jillian Kuntzman, Auxiliary president.Kuntzman works with the guidance counselors, who, in turn, contact families that may benefit from the Auxiliary's donations.Families from Towamensing Elementary, as well as S.S. Palmer Elementary School/Parkside Education Center, will receive gifts for their children, Kuntzman said. The gifts were in the form of Thanksgiving meals that already have been received, as well as Christmas meals that will be received, she said."This year, our patrons have stepped up, and the Palmerton Auxiliary board has worked really hard," Kuntzman said. "We hope it grows each year to feed more families."Debbie Heydt, Towamensing Elementary school nurse, said the families are most appreciative of the kind gesture."They have been very generous to our school, and I know the families really appreciate it," Heydt said. "They're very grateful."In addition, Towamensing Elementary School's Student Council has a Giving Tree program, whereby the students collect toys, and then donate the gifts to families.Towamensing sixth-grader Chloe Oldt, a member of student council, said it, "Feels good helping out other people."
