Lehighton gets $250,000 for park

State Sen. John Yudichak, D-Luzerne/Carbon/Monroe, on Thursday announced that seven state grants totaling more than $3 million have been awarded to projects throughout Luzerne and Carbon counties.

The local grants were approved under the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program funded through proceeds of Act 13. They include $250,000 to Lehighton Borough to renovate the historic Colonel Jacob Weiss Park in downtown Lehighton.Yudichak also applauded state Reps. Mike Carroll, D-Luzerne/Monroe; Tarah Toohil, R-Luzerne; Phyllis Mundy, D-Luzerne; and Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, for their work in securing the state funding.
