State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an attempted retail theft incident that occurred at a Schuylkill County department store.

The incident occurred about 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Kohl's Department Store in the Fairlane Village Mall, in Norwegian Township.Troopers said a group of five individuals entered the store and walked to the small appliance section. One of the individuals took the security rap off an eight-inch Polaroid Internet tablet and seven-inch Polaroid Internet tablet, which are valued at $379.Once removed the individual handed the boxes to a second person who attempted to leave the store without paying for the items. The second individual was approached by store security but he and the group he was with walked directly past the employee and out the store where they got into a dark colored sport utility vehicle and fled.The two tablets were secured by store security. Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 593-2000.
