Kunkletown man facing charges

Published September 26. 2013 05:00PM

Travis P. Johnson, 23, of Kunkletown, has been charged in connection with a reported strong arm robbery in Tamaqua on June 15.

Johnson called 9-1-1 at 6:54 a.m to report he had been robbed of $3,600. He claimed the incident took place at 306 Biddle St., and that a male had knocked him to the ground and taken his money.

When police responded they were somewhat surprised as Johnson had been released from their custody just a short time earlier and had no cash on him at that time. He had been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) of a controlled substance earlier in the morning.

After searching for evidence and speaking with Biddle Street residents, police charged Johnson with making false reports to law enforcement.
