Palmerton election

Published May 17. 2013 05:03PM

Republican voters in Palmerton will have a choice to make among five candidates seeking four nominations for four-year terms on the borough council. We incorrectly stated earlier this week in our election preview that there were no contests in the borough balloting this time around. We apologize for the mistake.

The GOP candidates for council are incumbents Richard L. Nothstein and Michael J. Ballard and newcomers Lamont C. Musselman, Gerard J. Alfano and Jereme J. Barkanic. The latter's name was inadvertently omitted from the preview.

The top four finishers in that race will face Democratic incumbents Jason J. Behler and Kris W. Hoffner in the Fall. They are the only two Democratic council candidates.

Barkanic is also running unopposed for the GOP nomination for mayor and will face incumbent Mayor Christopher Olivia, a Democrat who is unopposed on Tuesday for that nomination.
