AARP Driver Review

Published April 10. 2013 05:03PM

Formerly 55-Alive, the four- and eight-hour classroom refresher/ defensive driving course is designed for qualified drivers 50 and older. There are no tests and membership in the AARP is not necessary. All insurance companies doing business in Pennsylvania are required, by state law, to give a minimum discount of 5 percent to all qualified policyholders over the age of 55 who take the course. One should first check with one's insurance agent or company to make sure one qualifies for the discount.

All classes are taught by trained unpaid volunteer instructors.

For information about the eight-hour, two-day course, from 1-5 p.m., being given Saturday, April 20, and Saturday, April 27, at the Chestnuthill Park Building in Brodheadsville, call the instructor at (570) 619-4006.
