The fourth annual tree lighting ceremony was held at Sam Miller Field, located on North Avenue in Jim Thorpe.

The tree was lit by Harold Baker IV.After the tree lighting, there was a special visit from Santa Clause. The children had the chance to meet with Santa Clause individually.The children also had the opportunity to pick out a toy.Hot chocolate and cookies were served.The event was sponsored by the Jim Thorpe Community Athletic Association.The association said it thanks everyone for their support with this event.Among the sponsors and volunteers recognized were:• Jim Thorpe Borough for setting up and decorating the tree, Jim Gallagher for getting the tree, and the anonymous donor of the tree.• Mauch Chunk 5 and 10, Gene Binder of Binder Insurance, Suzanne Graf of Binder Insurance, Jerry Bing Inc., Leroy Strohl, Joann and Dirk Pompa, Kyle Sheckler, and the JT Community Athletic Association for donating the toys.• Dave Stianche of Stianche Funeral Home, Joanne and Dirk Pompa, Bethann Sheckler, Shawn Sheckler, Rosetta Herman, Lori Larizzio, and Diane Highland for donating the cookies.• Sharon and Kevin Binder for donating the hot chocolate.
