Number of projects reviewed by Schuylkill board

To meet the obligations as set forth by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code, a number of projects were reviewed by the Schuylkill County Planning Commission at its monthly meeting held Wednesday evening in the courthouse in Pottsville.

Eagle Rock Resorts Company has applied for an individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for stormwater discharges from its Hidden Forest-Phase One Development in North Union Township.North Union Township Supervisors notified the board it intends to apply to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for a permit for maintenance, testing, repair, rehabilitation or replacement of water obstructions and encroachments in the Spiece Road project.MBC Development, LP, Delano Township, notified the board it is completing a project which includes the construction of three new industrial buildings in Majic Industrial Park, a paved driveway and parking areas.Larry and Karen Bensinger, 119 and 105 Kettle Road, Tamaqua, are applying to NPDES for a permit for stormwater discharges associated with construction activities. The activities envolve clearing approximately three acres to prepare for a future residential home.Ryan Township supervisors notified the board that it has confirmed its determination that the Ryan Township Sewage Facilities Planning is exempt from the requirements to revise the official plan for new land development.Marian Catholic High School notified the board of its intent to submit an application to DEP for an NPDES permit renewal for the Marian High School Sewage Treatment Plant located n Rush Township, which permits the high school to discharge into the Schuylkill River.The board gave final approval to Carol A. Herb, Glenn R. Bensinger, Joan M. Conrad, and Brenda Knorr to subdivide 54.6 acres in Upper Mahantongo Township into one lot for an existing single family residential and accessory farm buildings. Also, final approval was also given to Michael V. and Jessica L. Leibig, Barry Township, to subdivide two acres into one lot for a single family home.Reviews conductedThe board reviewed subdivision plans submitted to local planning commissioners.Geisinger Medical Group plans to construct a medical center on the north side of SR61 in West Brunswick Township, just outside the borough of Orwigsburg. Comment by the county board was that a proposed temporary well to provide water until connection to public water system is established and an individual on-lot sewage system be established until connection to a public sewer system is established. Both proposals need approval from the governing water and sewer authorities. A road frontage onto SR61 needs PennDOT permission.Fanelli Group Properties, LLC, are proposing two commercial lots in the villages at Deer Lake Subdivision, West Brunswick Township, consisting of 3.511 acres. The board commented a temporary well-connection until connection to public water system and on-lot sewage system until connected to public sewer system needs approval from the water and sewer authorities and a road frontage needs a PennDOT permit.Keith and Helen Masser seek to subdivide land located in Hubley Township located between SR25 and Township Route 446 (Spud Lane) to prepare one lot for agricultural use and the other lot for a single family home. The board commented connection to a public water system must receive approval from the water authority and for an on-lot sewage system a sewer planning model must be completed.Chairman Gary Bender presided.
