The Carbon Career and Technical Institute's class of 2012 scored 97 percent competent or advanced on this year's National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) exams.

Principal, Brent Borzak stated, "The CCTI administration and Joint Operating Committee are proud to announce that 97% of the seniors scored "competent" or "advanced" on their National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) and National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) tests.""NOCTI and NIMS are end-of-program assessments that measure achievement in the students' career and technical programs.""A 97% success rate is phenomenal. The state expectation is 71% and the state average is in the mid 70% range," he added.The exams have both a written and performance component.Administrative Director, Dave Reinbold stated, "CCTI's results are a combination of many factors. We have a talented and devoted staff that is committed to teaching our students the skills they need to be successful. We commend our students for their efforts and dedication to high achievement. We challenge our students to meet CCTI's goals and expectations, and they continue to do so.He added, "We are also benefiting from a true spirit of cooperation among the Carbon County school districts' Boards, administrations, staffs, and parents. Panther Valley, Weatherly, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, and Palmerton school districts are doing an excellent job preparing their students to attend CCTI.""We appreciate everyone who made our NOCTI and NIMS testing a success. Congratulations to the class of 2012," he added.Students who scored competent or advanced on the NOCTI exams were recognized at the Senior Awards Ceremony and given NOCTI certificates with their diplomas at graduation. At the Senior Awards Ceremony, it was stated that the class of 2012 has scored the highest on the NOCTI exams in the history of CCTI.
