Six area residents were among 32 who were qualified by District Attorney Karen Byrnes Noon to be placed in the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition (ARD) probation program because they were first offenders to non violent crimes.

Judge John E. Domalakes admitted them into the program at a hearing held in Schuylkill County court and imposed conditions to be completed. If they successfully carry out the sentences they can clear their name. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Zachary Evans, 18, of 247 Franklin St., Tamaqua, on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge was assessed $500 fee to defray cost of the program, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 10 hours community service, attend alcohol highway safe driving school and driver's license is suspended 90 days.
