3 local people among 13 entering guilty pleas

Three area people were among 13 who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in the Schuylkill County Court and were sentenced Wednesday by Judge John E. Domalakes.

Zachary I. Hess, 25, of 204 Valley Street, Brockton Village, Schuylkill Township, on a DUI (driving under the influence) of alcohol charge, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in the Schuylkill County Prison with the sentence to begin on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 9 a.m. He was also granted immediate permission to participate in the work release program.Hess was fined $300 and court costs, pay $100 to SAE (Substance Abuse Education) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, enroll and complete alcohol highway safe driving school, enroll in Chemical Dependency Program, pay a monthly fee of $500 for each month on probation and his driving privileges are suspended 12 months. Hess was cited by Patrolman Thomas Duarte, Tamaqua police, last Dec. 7.Nicholas S. Demyanovich, 48, of 1481 Valley Road, Tamaqua, on a charge of fleeing police, was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA (Criminal Justice Enhancement Account) and a $50 monthly probation fee. He had previously been placed in the ARD (Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition Program), a probation program for first offenders to allow them to work off their criminal record, however, he violated the rules and the program was terminated. Demyanovich was cited by Patrolman Thomas Rodgers, Tamaqua police, last September.Richard George Wolfe, 24, of 232 Millhead Road, Tamaqua, on three counts of unauthorized use of a credit card belonging to Kathie Ann Homyak, 408 East Broad Street, Tamaqua, and one count of theft by making three transactions from the bank on her account, was given credit for having served 100 days in the county prison and was placed on parole for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, a $50 monthly probation fee and make restitution of $509 to Mauch Chunk Trust Bank. Wolfe was cited by Corporal Henry Woods, Tamaqua police, last August.William Edwin White, 51, Hazleton, on a charge of misbranding a controlled substance, was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, $113 to Bethlehem Crime Lab, a $50 monthly probation fee and on a charge of failing to secure a load in his truck by allowing a steel bar to fall on Mauch Chunk Street in Tamaqua, was fined $200 plus $50 costs. White was cited by Patrolman Matthew Bynon, Tamaqua police.William George Wysoski, 38, Frackville, on a charge of DUI, was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program for six months with the first 15 days under house arrest under electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee, followed by four months and 45 days under probation, pay a fine of $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund,$60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, a $50 monthly probation fee, complete safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment and perform 10 hours of community service.His license is suspended 12 months. Wysoski was cited by Patrolman Raymond Tonkinson, III, West Mahanoy Township police, last May 28.Barbara Ann Lehman, 56, Conyngham, on a DUI charge, was placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program for six months with the first 60 days under house arrest with electronic surveillance and pay a $12 daily fee, followed by three months and 40 days on probation and pay a $50 monthly probation fee, also, fined $750, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, complete safety school, license suspended 12 months and when restored must install an ignition interlock device on the wheel of the car which will monitor alcohol content in the driver.On a summary charge of disregarding a traffic lane was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Lehman was cited by Trooper Michael Breznik when stopped on Route 54 between Girardville and Lost Creek last March 19.Louis Michael DeAngeles, 50, Auburn, on a charge of dui was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in the county prison with the sentence to begin Wednesday, February 8 at 5 p.m. and is permitted to participate in the work release program at the prison. He also must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to the Catastrophe fund, a $50 monthly probation fee, attend safety school, undergo intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment and his driving privileges are suspended 12 months.On a summary charge of violating a stop sign was fined $25 plus $50 costs. DeAngeles was cited by Patrolman Gregory S. Meisner, Schuylkill Haven police last March 18.Michael J. O'Boyle, Jr., 32, Pottsville, on a charge of driving under combined influence of drugs and alcohol, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Thursday, January 19 at 9 a.m. and when he completes his minimum sentence he is granted immediate parole. He also must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, a $50 monthly probation fee, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment and his driver's license is suspended 12 months.O'Boyle was cited by Patrolman John Mohl, Pottsville police, last November 22.Francisco Alvarez, 18, Hazleton, on a charge of theft, was placed on probation 12 months and pay a $50 monthly probation fee. He was cited by Lieutenant Gary Keppel, Shenandoah police, last May 13.Wendy Lee Vachon, 44, Newport, Florida, on a charge of recklessly endangering another person, was placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA. She was cited by Sgt. Keith Krapft, Coaldale police, last May 9. The defendant's supervision was transferred to Florida.Kasey Lee Starr, 20, Palo Alto, pleaded guilty to charges of driving under a combined influence of drugs and alcohol, terroristic threats and receiving stolen property. On the DUI charge she was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison beginning Friday, Jan. 20 at 9 a.m. and on completion of her minimum sentence, is granted immediate parole.She also must pay a $1,000 fine, pay $100 to the SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse treatment and her license is suspended 12 months. On a charge of operating with unsafe equipment on her car (tail lamps painted black) she was fined $200 plus $50 costs.Starr was cited by Patrolman Joseph Krammes, Pottsville police, last July 12.On a charge of terroristic threats and simple assault against Lauren Rubright, Palo Alto, was placed on probation 18 months to run concurrent with the DUI sentence and pay $50 CJEA. She was cited by Patrolman Andrew J. Lescosky, Palo Alto police last Feb. 24 and on a charge of receiving stolen property from a Mechanicsville home, was placed on probation 12 months to run concurrent with the other sentences, pay $50 CJEA and make restitution of $275 to Ann Marie Majestic and $150 to Western Union Cash and Trading Company, Pottsville.Starr was cited by Patrolman Randy Taylor, Port Carbon police, on May 4, 2010.Philip Joseph Koles, 31, Minersville, on a charge of theft by deception by paying with a bad check for having his car towed from I-81 in West Mahanoy Township, was given credit for spending two days in the county prison and was released on probation for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, a $50 monthly probation fee and make restitution of $190 to Dale Hoffman's Garage. Koles was cited by Trooper Brent Spleen on Dec. 31, 2010.Nolan Leo Heffner, 28, Minersville, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, was given credit for spending 80 days in the county prison and released on parole for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, $100 to SAE fund and a $50 monthly probation fee.Heffner was cited by Patrolman Jeffrey R. Bowers, Minersville police, last Oct. 31.
