@Caption Stand Alone:LABC retires Frey's jersey The Lehighton Athletic Booster Club retired the football jersey of Robbie Frey on Saturday. Frey, who got his first taste of organized football playing in the LABC, went on to star at Lehighton High School, the University of Connecticut and Kutztown University. Frey, second from right, is joined by family members as he accepts the jersey from a representative of the booster club. During his Lehighton High School career, Frey became the school's all-time leading rusher. A three-year starter at tailback, he rushed for 4,838 yards in his career, including back-to-back seasons of over 2,000 yards as a junior and senior. Frey received a full scholarship to play Division I football at UConn, where he played a key role on special teams and as the Huskies backup tailback. In three years with the Huskies, Frey had over 1,800 yards of total offense and scored nine touchdowns. Frey transfered to D-II Kutztown for his senior year where he racked up a team-high 1,185 yards rushing. Frey had an NFL free agent tryout with the Atlanta Falcons this summer.
