Checkpoint results are released

State police at Lehighton released the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted during the period of May 26-27.

The checkpoint results included seven drivers arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs. Also, 12 motorists were drinking but released after passing standardized field sobriety tests. There were 50 traffic citations issued

Troopers also reported one of the DUI arrests resulted in a further charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance after 160 bags of heroin were recovered.
