NL, Marian suffer losses

Northern Lehigh and Marian both suffered baseball setbacks on Thursday in local sports action.

In Wednesday's play, Northwestern scored a win over Catasauqua.

Catasauqua escaped with a 5-4 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.

The Bulldogs (6-14; 4-12) rallied from a 4-1 deficit and Kyle Schomp tied things up with a solo homer in the sixth inning. Schomp ended up 3-for-3.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Roughies' Carlos Perez singled, stole second and was able to cross home with the game-winning run thanks to two Bulldog errors.

Nolehi's Brandon Papay had two singles.

Izzy Morales had two singles and two RBIs for the Roughies, while James Snyder added two singles.

Williams Vy.-Marian

Williams Valley got the best of Marian in five innings for a 11-1 non-conference win.

Owen Daniel paced the Vikings with two singles, a double, a run scored and a RBI, while Brandan Miller chipped in with a single, double, two runs scored and a RBI.

Mike Cataldo and Ron Kosar accounted for the Colts two hits. Cataldo walked and then scored the lone run on a wild pitch in the first inning.

Marian slips to 10-8 on the season.

The Colts will finish up the season on Sunday against Holy Cross in a doubleheader at 12:30 p.m.

Northwestern scored nine runs in the first two innings and outlasted Catasauqua for a 10-6 Colonial League victory on Wednesday.

Tyler Cunningham had two hits, scored two runs, and knocked in three runs for the Tigers (13-7).

For Catty Jake Bloszinsky had two hits and two RBIs.
