Monroe driver facing DUI count

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI).

Pocono Mountain Regional police reported about 1:25 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, they stopped a vehicle along Kuhenbeaker Road, in Tunkhannock Township, for motor vehicle code violations.

The driver was identified as Branden Purvis, 20, of Tobyhanna. Officers detected to odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Purvis handed over a pipe which contained marijuana residue. A search of the vehicle revealed an additional small amount of marijuana.

Purvis was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and later released. Charges will be filed, police said.
