A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI).

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 1 a.m. on Dec. 31 officers observed a vehicle at the intersection of SR611 and 423. Officers began to fllow the vehicle east and observed it cross the center line several times while westbound.

A vehicle stop was made and the driver identified as Edward Mathews, 32, of Stroudsburg. Police said he and his passenger, identified as Rebecca Heddy, 30, of Stroudsburg, were highly intoxicated and told officers they didn't know where they were at and how they got there.

Mathews was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for a blood test. Police said charges will be filed against Mathews.
