Shickora helps Georgia win SEC swim title

Kristen Shickora finished second in the 200 backstroke at the Southeastern Conference Swimming Championships this past weekend and helped the University of Georgia women's swim team earned its third straight SEC title.

Shickora, a Marian Catholic graduate, turned in a time of 1:53.41 in the 200 back finals. She reached the finals by swimming a 1:56.01 in the preliminaries.The Bulldog senior also took a fouth place in the 100 backstroke. Shickora recorded a 52.55 in the prelims, which was the second fastest in the event. Her time in the finals was 52.79.Shickora also was a member of the 400 Medley Relay, which placed second, and the 200 Medley Relay, which finished fourth.She also competed individually in the 200 Individual Medley and earned a ninth-place finish. Her time of 1:59.45 in the prelims just missed the cut for the championship finals. She then won the consi finals in a time of 1:58.48, which was the fourth best mark during the finals round.Shickora will be competing in the NCAA Women's championships, which will take place the weekend of March 15-17 in Auburn.Highlights of the SEC championships will air during a tape-delayed broadcast on ESPNU on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.
