Due to the operational use of a helicopter for the Lehigh Gap Slope Stabilization Project, the Appalachian Trail parking lot located off Route 248 will be temporarily closed on May 11, 12, 14, and possibly the 15.

FAA safety rules require that a landing zone be available in the vicinity of the flight operations and the Appalachian Trail parking lot will be designated as the landing zone, therefore the parking lot must be cleared of vehicles.Alternate parking is available on the west side of Lehigh Gap off Route 873, as well as at Little Gap, off Little Gap Road, approximately 4 miles north on the Appalachian Trail.The Appalachian Trail remains open. Please stay on the Trail (follow white blazes).As a reminder, the construction zone, including the Winter Trail is closed for the duration of the project. Do not enter this area.The current expected time-frame for completion is now mid-August.
