Jacob Throne, a Petty Officer 2nd Class with the U. S. Navy Sea Cadets, recently received the "Theodore Roosevelt Youth Medal."

This award is presented annually by the Navy League of the United States for "Outstanding Performance of Duty."General Joseph F. Dunford Jr., Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, presented the medal to Jacob at the U.S. Navy League's annual dinner in Philadelphia on Sept. 1.Jacob is the grandson of Dorothy Inama of Brockton and the son of Jake and Diane Throne of Orwigsburg, and both formerly from the Tamaqua area. He is a sophomore at Blue Mountain High School.
