Palmerton man facing drug counts

A Palmerton man is facing drug charges following an incident in Jim Thorpe.

Borough police said about 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, officers were dispatched to 422 Lehigh St. for an "out of control" male.The person was identified as Adam E. Augustine, 21.While investigating the incident officers discovered about 70 bags of suspected marijuana, assorted items of drug paraphernalia including two weighing scales, an unidentified bag of pills and three plastic baggies containing $2,900 in U.S. currency.Augustine was taken into custody and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (a felony), possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.He was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford, and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of bail.
