Tamaqua HS hosts 36th Schuylkill County Band Festival

The Tamaqua Area High School Band is hosting the 36th annual Schuylkill County Band Festival this week.

The honors band festival will culminate in a concert open to the public on Saturday, March 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the school district's Center for The Performing Arts on the secondary campus.The 130 member festival band will feature auditioned band members from the county's 13 high schools and will be under the guest baton of Dr. O. Richard Bundy, conductor of the Sauder award winning Penn State Blue Band and Professor of Music Education in the music department of the university.The band will perform traditional and contemporary band selections among which will be:"They Hung Their Harps In The Willows" - W. Francis McBeth"Second Suite in F" - Gustav Holst"Hands Across The Sea" - John Philip Sousa"Sundance" - Frank Tichelli"Air For Band" - Frank Erickson"Variations On A Korean Folk Song" - John Barnes Chance"Renaissance Fair" - Bob MargolisTickets for the public will be available at the door before the concert.Come and celebrate Music In Our Schools Month, a national observance/ tribute to music education in schools in America.
