Troopers report on crashes

State police at Lehighton reported on three crashes investigated by troopers recently.

On July 6 about 6:20 p.m. a one vehicle crash occurred along SR248 in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Tara S. Fisher, 18, of Lehighton, was driving a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am eastbound and while attempting to put her seat belt on and asked the front seat passenger to take the steering wheel. As the passenger grabbed the wheel she lost control of the car, which swerved across the left lane and struck a wall of the cantilever before swerving back across the road and came to rest in the right lane. Troopers identified two passengers in the vehicle - Dakota Wentz, 15, and Ronald Cook, 17, both of Lehighton. They did not indicate which passenger took the wheel when asked by Fisher.

No one was injured. Troopers cited Fisher for driving on roadways laned for travel.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 6:43 a.m. on July 7 along SR115 in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Anastasia Gale, 56, of Effort, was driving a 2002 Mercury Sable northbound when two deer entered the road in front of her causing her to crash. Gale was not injured. Troopers cited her for safe speeds.

A crash occurred about 12:05 a.m. on July 9 along Carney Road, in Eldred Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Christine L. Klingel, 18, of Kresgeville, was driving a 1999 Ford F250 supercab pickup truck eastbound when it went onto the north berm and traveled up an embankment causing it to roll over.

Klingel was not injured but her passenger, James D. Patterson, 18, of Saylorsburg, sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention.

Troopers cited Klingel for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
