Red light grant program has July 29 deadline

HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is accepting applications for funding under the Automated Red Light Enforcement (ARLE) program, according to Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon).

The deadline to apply is July 29 by 5 p.m."Funding is limited and many municipalities and agencies will be competing, but for those who apply successfully, state grant money could help fund local transportation safety projects," said Heffley.Eligible applicants include local counties, municipalities and other local boards or bodies having authority to enact laws relating to traffic.The ARLE Program is a statewide competitive grant program.During the first round of ARLE grants, 106 projects totaling $8.4 million were awarded.Beaver Meadows Borough received $5,000 earlier this year for pedestrian and speed limit signs.
