State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes investigated by troopers along Monroe County roads.

A one vehicle crash occurred about 10:57 a.m. on Friday, July 1, along SR534 in Polk Township. Troopers said Paul Kwatkoski, 36, of Coplay, was driving a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder in the area of the Indian Mountain Golf Course northbound when he lost control when he drove over loose gravel. The vehicle struck the guide rail along the berm and went partially down an embankment where it came to rest.

Kwatkoski was not injured but damages were disabling to the vehicle. He was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic, troopers said.

A two vehicle crash was reported about 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, along Kunkletown Road in Ross Township. Troopers said Albin V. Owczarczak, 74, of Albrightsville, and John Hettiarachchi, 41, of North Wilkesboro, N.C., were both eastbound. Troopers said Hettiarachchi's bicycle was struck in the rear by Owczarczak's 2001 Ford Expedition.

Upon impact Hettiarachchi was knocked to the ground and the bike slid into the guard rail. Hettiarachchi sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance.

Troopers cited Owczarczak for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.
