Attempted theft incident probed

State police at Schuylkill Haven are investigating an attempted theft incident at a Schuylkill County apartment complex.

Troopers said unknown crimianls entered the complex at 119 North St., Port Carbon, and proceeded to the basement area. They then used a drill to damage the coin boxes attached to the apartment's washers and dryers. Troopers said the criminals were unable to open the coin boxes, damaging four of them, then fled the scene. Damages were estimated at $120. The incident occurred sometime between Aug. 18-24.

The complex is owned by G. Michael Koller, 42, of Wyomissing, Berks County.

Troopers also reported investigating a burlgary. The home of George Walter Huss, Moonhill Drive, Wayne Township, was entered and a golf bag that contained a range finder and a set of Ping golf clubs was taken. The incident occurred sometime between Aug. 21-25.
