Lanford man facing charges
Howard Pfeiffer, 44, of 310 E. Patterson St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place at 12 a.m. July 24 at his home. Charges of simple assault, persistent disorderly conduct and harassment were filed by Officer Amie Barclay. He was arraigned before on-call District Judge Joseph D. Homanko of Weatherly and jailed under $2,500 bail.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:
Barclay received a call from the Carbon County Communications center to see a Bridget Murphy in regard to her having been struck in the face by her boyfriend, identified as Pfeiffer.
Murphy had fled her home and gone to a neighbor's house. Murphy told Barclay that Pfeiffer had hit her in the face, causing a bleeding wound and swelling to her right cheek. Murphy also had a moderate amount of dried blood on her lips.
Barclay found Pfeiffer in his living room. She advised him he was under arrest for domestic violence. Pfeiffer responded by being loud and screaming at Barclay and at fellow Officer Robert Shubeck and Sgt. Jack Soberick.
Pfeiffer continued to yell and scream profanities as he was taken to the police cruiser to be taken to the station.
He was told to stop yelling and get into the patrol car, but continued to yell and curse at Shubeck.
By this time, neighbors had gathered on their front porches. Pfeiffer wouldn't let up, and had to be physically placed into the cruiser. Pfeiffer continued to yell and curse for about 15 minutes.
