Pumping station damaged in accident

Tamaqua Police have released details on a Wednesday night accident that caused major damage to a pumping station located near the entrance to Owl Creek Road.

According to the report, Robert Linkhorst, 38, of 73 Buck Lane, Tamaqua, was driving south on SR309 in a silver Chevy Tahoe pickup truck at approximately 10:15 p.m when the truck began swerving. Linkhorst lost control as he neared the Owl Creek Road intersection and the truck slid into the northbound lane, striking a sign post, then destroying the fence surrounding a pumping station used by the Tamaqua Area Sewer Authority.The truck entered the pumping station, went airborne and flipped over, ejecting the driver.Linkhorst was air lifted to St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. Charges are pending the results of blood drawn at the hospital and tested for alcohol and/or drug use.
