Conditional use request granted to couple

Polk Township Supervisors have granted the conditional use request of Jim and Julia Saeger, with the appropriate conditions attached, including returning the involved structure to its original use if the conditional use ends.

The trio gave permission for Penn Forest Fire Police to enter the township to help with traffic control during the Black Bear Triathlon set for May 22 -May 23.A report on the recent township clean-up day included expenses of items that had to be disposed of and items that were recycled. Township residents with transfer station permits are reminded that metal items, such as refrigerators, are accepted any day the transfer station is open.All residents are reminded that the township will host a Memorial Day ceremony at the Veteran's Memorial at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 30 and that the township park on Route 534 is open during daylight hours.Under consideration by the supervisors is a non-littering ordinance and in what order to pipe replacements that are needed. Input from the township engineer will be sought.More citizen involvement is being sought for the township Crime Watch group. It just met recently and will next meet in August. Those wanting to be part of that volunteer group can get more information from the township office.A street classification ordinance amendment will soon be in front of the supervisors and some of the township roads will be tarred and chipped in due time.The next board meeting is Monday, May 24, when some of the items may be on the agenda again. Supervisors' meetings begin at 7:30 p.m., unless otherwise advertised.
