March 20, 1971 John Teprovich scores a game-high 22 points, including a 10-of-12 effort at the free throw line, to help lead Marian to a 67-48 victory over Pittsburgh's St. Basil and claim the PCIAA Class B state championship. Teprovich also pulls down 10 rebounds as the Colts outscore their opponent 37-22 in the second half to pull away for the win. Frank Yusella contributes 13 points while Joe Balascik adds 12. Marian, coached by Bob Fulton, also receives 11 points from Joe Prekopa.
