Celebrates 102 years

A woman living in Brodheadsville received a certificate commemorating her long and experienced life Friday to celebrate her 102nd birthday.

State Sen. Mario Scavello, R-Monroe, presented Josephine Vigini with a certificate honoring her for her long life.Kerry Knapp, assistant director of activities at Brookmont Health Care Center where Vigini lives, said the certificate in part shows just how much Vigini has seen in her life."She's seen so much, the invention of the dialysis machine, penicillin, the moon landing," Knapp said. "She's experienced so much since she was born and the certificate is kind of meant for that."More than that, though, it honors her for being 102. For her age she can get around like nobody's business!"Vigini was born on Aug. 11, 1915 in Pittston. She married during World War II and worked at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
